Our Priorities

Tree Planting-Forestation

Tree planting is one of our key pillars.Our goal is to influence as many people as possible to plant trees for food, for aesthetic value or for energy (firewood) so as to increase Kenya’s tree cover which is at 12.13%.

To achieve this, we are focussing on:

a) Creating a database of tree nurseries across the country for ease of access to seedlings.

b) Work with Kenya Forest Service and other institutions to share information about different tree species and the ecological zones that they can grow naturally.

c) Make tree planting fun hence influence the youths to participate in planting trees.

d) Use different social media platforms to share different activities undertaken by the movement to influence social change.

d) Engage in activities that reduce over reliance on trees for building and also as a source of energy by encouraging the use of alternative sources such as solar power to provide energy.

e) Any other information regarding forest conservation

Access to Clean Water

Through returns earned from selling tree seedlings ,offering  landscaping services and other sources, we sunk a borehole in Kyaume Village, Ithanga Location. 40 households can access clean water during the dry season at Kshs.10 for 20 litres.The returns from the borehole sustain the running costs of the project.

The impact has been:

a) 33% drop in typhoid cases reported within the village;
b) Safety of women and girls as they do not have to walk long
hours at night in search of water;
c) Children in the 40 households have more time to
study.

We are working towards sinking a second borehole at Holo village in Kisumu so that more households can access clean water.

Clean Energy for The Vulnerable

Our goal is ensure that 60 households that are not connected to the national grid obtain solar kits instead of spending an estimated 1 dollar a day (Kshs.120) to buy kerosene. This translates to Kshs. 3000 per month which when saved can be redirected to other basic needs hence cushioning families from the current high of of living.

The quality light also helps reduce respiratory system diseases and exposure to carbon, giving students a study-friendly environment hence improved academic performance.

We are planning to achieve this goal by end of 2023 or earlier subject to availability of resources.
